Helping railroad a glider to its new home can be a rewarding experience, but it's important to keep both you and the glider safe during transport. Here are a few things to think about:

1. Meet in a public place. Many railroads are set up with strangers. With so much done online, you never know who you're going to be meeting so be safe. When possible, take someone along with you.

2. Be sure to confirm the meeting time and place WITH THE PERSON YOU'RE GOING TO BE MEETING. I recommend speaking DIRECTLY to the people you're picking up and dropping off with prior to the railroad. Unfortunately, there are some very unorganized railroads so confirming directly with the people you'll be meeting can save you time and frustration.

3. Practice strict quarantine. Travel can cause stress and bring out illness. Be sure to sanitize your hands before and after handling gliders. It's best not to have your gliders with you on a railroad, but if you do, take steps to keep them safe from disease.

One last thing to mention. Have a plan ready in case the gliders stay with you. While it's rare, it can happen that the person who is supposed to get the gliders from you doesn't show up. If you don't personally know the other people involved in the railroad, be careful. Sometimes people have great intentions, but things can go wrong.
